Details:
Passionate and powerful are two words listeners often use to describe the vocal elements of Traci Root. Traci brings a classic R&B sound, infused with modern soul, jazz & hip hop flavors – even overtones of folk rock. With old school influences such as Stevie Wonder, Al Green and Gladys Knight, as well as the newer stylings of Alicia Keys, Joss Stone and Lauryn Hill she has a deep respect for raw talent and soul and it shows rather covering such classics or performing original music that has a sound and style all her own. First time listeners are often amazed at the soulful song that comes from deep within.

“I Wanna Go To Heaven is FABULOUS!! Traci’s voice is awesome… (Greener On This Side) is a wonderful project. She should go far with her talent...”
--Sherry Winston Jazz Flutist and International Recording Artist

Born in Indiana, Traci spent much of her childhood on the road and has been exposed to many different cultures and influences and has a great appreciation for diversity. She landed in Cincinnati, OH in 1995 and began actively pursuing her passion as a singer/songwriter in 1999, at which point she began playing out at local venues. In 2003, she and her husband Richie began traveling internationally, which expanded her network and provided opportunities to travel and sing with organizations in Southeast Asia for crowds of up to 40,000. She even wrote and recorded a song, “I Will Carry You,” for Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, which was also used by Foundation Life, a social welfare organization, providing assistance to underprivileged women and children in Thailand. She currently resides in CT.

Traci Root will “sing your face off.” – Mike Smith of Mike Smith Band
Don’t worry…it’s a good thing. A very good thing.

Traci’s debut album Greener on This Side, containing twelve original tracks, features seasoned musicians and local talent alongside her driving vocals.

Songs such as “Please Believe Me”, “Down and Out” and “I Wanna Go To Heaven” are easy crowd-pleasers and in the words of bass guitarist, Scott Spray, premier bass player for Johnny Winters, “make you wanna dance.” R&B guitarist, Phil Hamilton, who toured with such legends as Luther Vandross and Roberta Flack, nails guitar solos on “Any Longer” and “Beauty for Ashes.” The album also features, local talent and edge from lead guitarist, Jean Sandoval. Pocket grooves by Sean Moffitt and amazing jazz infused piano solos by Nick Bariluk, that often serve as a second voice, musically drive this debut. The final track, “Star,” is a piano/vocal solo that comes straight from the heart.

“The album contains a lot of personal experience and growth. Its’ who I am, who I’m created to be, but it is so accessible to all of us. The overall feel is very upbeat, but there’s a lot of hard lessons in there. The grass isn’t greener on the other side. It’s greener on this side, but it’s a lot about perspective and knowing the truth, because the truth will set you free. I think this album will bring a lot of joy and freedom to it’s listeners.”
