MP3 Three Sheets - Shake It Off

Blues infused garage punk with huge pop hooks.

12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Punk, ROCK: Hard Rock

Details:
Since 2003, Three Sheets has been commanding attention – outright devotion, really – from the Boston music scene with their relentless garage punk. Born in the darkest depths of the Music Gym in Allston, Three Sheets began its life of debauchery and ill-repute as a trio: Julie L. on bass and Gary T. on drums produced rumbling sounds felt in the deepest sections of one’s bowels, while Brandon M. terrorized a guitar until it did his bidding. Julie and Brandon also dominated the mics, providing a male-female lead vocal duo rare in the punk rock universe.

In early 2005, with innumerable rehearsals, gigs, and hours of counseling behind them, the three dreamed of a second guitar player to flesh out the sound. Santa or the Easter Bunny (everyone remembers it differently) delivered rhythm guitarist Kristin E. (also of DRAGO), thus bringing the XX chromosome quotient to a much better place.

From that day forward, Three Sheets has infected the greater Boston area, making their presence felt at clubs such as the Middle East (both Upstairs and Downstairs), the Paradise Lounge, and the Abbey Lounge. Along the way, they picked up the 2004 Best New Band title from The Noise magazine’s annual poll.

In June of 2005, the band entered Fallen Angel Records studios to record their debut album. After over two weeks in labor, Shake It Off came into the world kicking and screaming. Produced by Eric Edmonston (The Blue Bloods, DRAGO, ex-Darkbuster), Shake It Off captures not only the band’s blistering speed and power, but also their secret weapon – huge pop hooks (because they can be sensitive like that). Live favorites like “DAG,” “Roberta,” and “Lawtown” are now preserved for future generations to study and admire the tag-team vocals, grinding guitars, and propulsively offbeat drumming.

Available in April of 2006, Shake It Off is the next step on Three Sheets’ ongoing plan of attack. There’s gas in van, and armed with spare strings in the case and a small forest worth of drum sticks, Three Sheets show no signs of stopping. The future for them is simply more shows, more miles, more music. Good luck to all unsuspecting creatures.
