Since their debut album back in 2008 Cyrion have become one of the leading figures on the Welsh electronic scene, spreading and pushing new music in what is now a thriving movement. With support from Radion 1’s Huw Stephens and Bethan Elfyn, Radio 6’s Tom Robinson, Radio Wales’s Adam Walton and Radio Cymru’s C2 shows the last album was received enthusiastically and anticipation is high for the follow up.
The first Cyrion album was a journey through experimental atmospheres and orchestral landscapes. ‘Surrounded’ however makes its agenda clear from the outset: it wants to make you move. Second time round Cyrion delivers a no holds bar collection of electro belters. With a mix of fierce electro-breaks, funky cut ups, and dirty wobbling bass lines it acknowledges influences ranging from Justice, Simian Mobile Disco and Soul Wax to the Chemical Brothers.
With Rhodri Owen taking charge of production, Theston Jones joins him on stage with live drums. Together they have crafted a full on, rip-roaring live show that has set them apart from other acts seeing them headline Bethan Elfyn and Adam Walton’s Fringe Festival gig for Radio 1’s One Big Weekend in Bangor.
