Details:
The Song Is You is a rousing opener. You’ll hear Ric Wolkins’ searing powerful lead trumpet, as well as the hard charging tenor sax of Steve Wood, the mellow and bebop trumpet of Jimmy Cook, and the innovative piano styling of Eric Dickey.

John Johnson’s guitar flows throughout the beautiful Pensativa. Scored with flutes, clarinets, and muted trumpets, it provides the perfect background for this light bossa tune.

Count Basie’s classic style is heard in A Warm Breeze. Swinging solos by trombonist Bryan Schultz, tenor man Steve Wood, and trumpeter Jimmy Cook.

Nationally known premiere trumpeter Jimmy Cook knows his way around a ballad. More Than You Know arranged expressly for Jimmy, shows you his sensitivity and masterful styling.

Vocalist Ramona Collins has become the unofficial TJO vocalist-in-residence. Her voice & style will mesmerize you as she sings and swings through Almost Like Being In Love.

When Sunny Gets Blue features John Johnson in an unusual arrangement ranging from a shuffle to a samba.

From the Basie band comes a down & dirty “tenor sax battle” featuring Andrew Bishop and Steve Wood. Doodle Oodle is a blistering romp which roars from top to bottom highlighting the incredible playing if these two “hot” saxophonists.

Arranged especially for Ramona, What A Wonderful World is a powerfully emotional tune in which she makes the listener part of the performance. This is one of her signature numbers.

Jack Taylor is a wonderfully versatile performer with the TJO, having played tenor and alto saxes, flute, and jazz clarinet. He is featured throughout this swinging arrangement of Out Of Nowhere.

You may hear some hints of Aaron Copeland at the beginning of Eric Dickey’s awesome piano solo in this unusual treatment of the Classic Body & Soul.

Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most is one of the most beautiful ballads ever written. Scott Rogers shows you his beautiful trombone sound on the melody, then sails through the chord changes with a fluid style that will make you smile.

Jack Taylor’s challenging & swinging chart of Our Love Is Here To Stay is a perfect example of contemporary big band writing. Listen for the laid back tenor sax of Andrew Bishop, and the ever swinging Jimmy Cook.

Inspired by the great alto saxophonist Phil Woods, this arrangement of Cheek To Cheek showcases the great sound of Mark Lemle. Arranged by Dave Melle for the TJO, this up tempo chart swings from beginning to end, with a few surprises in the middle.
