Jav Rivera (aka Tino Ghost) has been writing original music since the mid 1990''s and began his recording career when he was asked to compose music for various short films. His music has been described as a modern blend of singer/songwriter. Although he prefers to be categorized as alternative, there are echoes of folk and blues.
In 2006, he released his debut album entitled “From The Ground” - an album of mostly acoustic tracks with themes of heartbreak and abandonment. Because of the low-fi production value and raw vocals, Jav has stressed his embarrassment towards this album. He has also stated, however, that if it weren''t for this album he wouldn''t have found the focus and confidence required for his follow up album “Until Autumn.” which was released in 2010.
“Until Autumn.” is an album of lush, dreamlike guitars, delicate pianos and tranquil vocals. In comparison to the debut album, Jav has enhanced his sound with stronger vocals, more intimate lyrics, and tighter musical arrangements. Unique, understated and inspired by a life of frustration and depression with themes about lost dreams, detached relationships and a desperate hope of normalcy.
In 2011, Jav released his third album entitled "3" which continues the dreamy sound of his previous album but with a more upbeat tempo. With music easy to tap your feet to and lyrics that delve into darker territory, Tino Ghost as created an album of bittersweet irony.
