MP3 James Carroll - World Gone Mad

If rock''n''roll, blues and country had a collision I think it would sound like this album. The chord changes are not traditional but they work and have a familiar quality about them even though they can''t be pinned down. This is a very well rounded album.

12 MP3 Songs in this album (68:29) !
Related styles: Rock: Roots Rock, Rock: Southern Rock, Featuring Guitar

People who are interested in Lou Reed Neil Young Tom Petty should consider this download.

If rock''n''roll, blues, country and bluegrass had a collision I think it would sound like this album. The chord changes are not traditional but they work and have a familiar quality about them even though they can''t be pinned down.
The first track, Bullit, is a guitar infested instrumental that has a somewhat haunting melody and takes you for a wicked ride through some strange land and drops you off at Don''t Look Back which is a nasty narration about a relationship gone bad.
Track three is a dark loping response to where one might go after said relationship. The old school feel this song conveys has a lot to do with it''s appeal. Next up is The Smallest Things which was inspired by the realization that a loved one may have to be sent away for awhile. This tune is a departure of sorts from my regular songwriting style and it is somewhat refreshing because of that. This song is also a good example of the originality this album provides.
Track five is Take Me Away and is a great, fun, good time tune that has an infectious guitar hook and top down feel, I dare you to not enjoy it!
Next it''s back to reality with a song called Live For Today. I almost don''t know how that one got on here but it did and has a gorgeous acoustic guitar solo that grounds the tune and gives it the earthy feel that it deserves.
I Wish We Had Waited is track six. It''s a very cool little ditty with a delicious mood and super simple but tonally appealing electric guitar track. This song was inspired by the worry only a parent can feel for a child.....
Enough worrying I''m mad now and that''s what track six is about ! Graveyard Shift was written initially because I was getting fed up with all the elections going on in my community ( hey I know they''re necessary) and in order to get out of my bad mood funk I tried to exorcise the demons by writing this song...it worked.
Ah, World Gone Mad. This is my epic. I LOVE this tune. Not my typical lyrical content but very poignant and in retrospect, prophetic. Everything about this tune works for me, did I mention I LOVE it ? The guitar solo at the outro is, for me, a masterpiece of restraint and friends who have heard it are of the same mind. This is one song I can say I could hear over and over again and be stuck on a deserted island with...yes I LOVE it and I hope you do too !
Valentines Day is track ten and is what I like to call white boy blues. Of course it''s not traditional blues but it is bluesy and I was once offered a huge amount of money for this song by the son of a very famous guitar player while he was drunk (the son that is). Alas the deal never came to fruition ha ha ha.
I usually, well always write by myself without a partner but one time I started a tune and thought it would be interesting and refreshing to write with someone else for a change. We discussed the tune one evening after I played the one verse I had already written and decided to call it a night and continue the next day. Well, I went home and wrote five more verses before going to bed and the next day it was clear that I would always write alone. Who knows what the future holds but that''s how Turn The Key came about and I like it just fine, kinda'' reminds me of that great southern rock band The Outlaws.
The last track on this album is a re-mix of the first track, Bullit. I always have and always will love feedback ! What a delicious creation and what a lot of fun to try and control/work with it. Also re-mixes are amazing in their own way...I wanted to end with a bit of a sound scape and keep this album a little more eclectic than my previous ones which I hope I accomplished.
I consider music ART first and foremost and I hope people can enjoy this offering for what it is, a very honest and unpretentious group of tunes that are available to folks for their toe tapping pleasure.
