Details:
The Root In Fluents have recently completed the much anticipated debut Red River Flu, set for release on March 18th, 2011. The album was recorded at Bedside Studio with Len "The Analogue Man" Milne (three Western Canadian Music Awards for his studio work, three Juno nominations). The album is a stylistic experiment, rooted in it''s instrumentation, and varies interestingly from song to song. The RIF are young, musically mature, and eager to gain some road experience with a summer tour.

Achievements:

The amount of recognition the band has gained is unusual, considering all of the buzz created thus far has been without a completed CD. In the midst of recording the album, they have relied on the quality of the live show, only releasing small snippets of Red River Flu.

In 2008, The Winnipeg Folk Festival accepted The Root In Fluents into the highly competitive Young Performers Program with their first original, “Breakin’ at 12”. This paired the band with Andrew Whiteman (Broken Social Scene, Apostle of Hustle) as their mentor, who provided indispensable performance advice and assisted them with their next original, the darker “Things Will Never Change”.

In 2009, The In-Fluents were selected by leading radio station Power 97 as a top 4 out of 75 unsigned acts in Winnipeg (Rocking the 204 contest). This landed daily summer airplay of their next potential single, the hard rockin’ “Wet Whistle”, with that track earning a top 100 spot in the year''s airplay. The contest also gave the band their biggest gig to date, playing before thousands at the Canada Day Celebration at The Forks, Winnipeg.

That same summer, another competition was won, in which The Root In Fluents earned 2 playing spots at the legendary Minnedosa Rockin the Fields festival, where they got to open for legends such as Edgar Winter and Sweet.

Without their knowledge, another radio station, 92.9 Kick FM (Red River College), picked up "Wet Whistle" from a Manitoba Music compilation album where it charted in the top 10 position for several weeks. The Root In Fluents currently have ties with 4 radio stations (Power 97, Kick FM, UMFM, CBC Radio 3), all without any promotion, management, or even an album. Now with the completion of Red River Flu, The In Fluents can capitalize on all this buzz to promote themselves and plunge themselves further into the Canadian music scene.

The multi-instrumentalist''s uncanny sense of tone and perfection with regards to studio engineering have defined The RIF sound.
