When Hayley Masters was 7 years old, she wrote and recorded her first song. Captured on a vintage Playskool recorder, the song spoke of Hayley''s belief in the providence of God; a belief that has only grown stronger with time. Over the last 11 years, Hayley has honed her ability to write songs that give voice to our silent prayers. Now a university student, her musical desire is still the same, "I hope that my songs will help people sing what may be hard for them to say."
As a fan of artists ranging from Britt Nicole and Natalie Grant to Adele and Taylor Swift, Hayley draws from a rich musical palette to create her songs. This is immediately apparent when you listen to her 2008 debut album, "Seasons of Change", which received extremely positive reviews and provided her with the opportunity to perform all over the country, including live appearances on radio and television. When she wasn''t busy touring over the last few years (or riding horses, or baking, or "texting" with friends…), Hayley wrote and recorded a follow-up EP entitled "Lead Me" which was released in 2011.
"Lead Me" is about life. Life is about choices. Choices lead to decisions, and decisions eventually propel life one way or the other. Having faced a lot of major decisions in her own life, Hayley penned this collection of songs that mirror her journey. In her own words, "Quite honestly, it would be a lot easier if someone knocked on my door every morning, walked into my world, and announce the answers that I need."
Hayley recalls playing the childhood game Follow the Leader in her backyard. Sometimes she would have the tendency to get distracted; or, at times, she would just go on her own path, tired of following. Hayley concludes that "without realizing it, this is often how we approach life itself." We listen to the wrong voices, become distracted, or try to take control of our own destiny. When life becomes the result of wrong choices and bad decisions, we may feel like God becomes frustrated with us. Life then becomes a "crazy ride" that is unexplainable. We think God has given up on us and will never help us again. But if we "take a look around, He can always be found."
Hayley also recorded and released a pop-version of the Christmas classic "O Holy NIght", which has already been added to several radio stations across the country after garnering some exceptional early feedback. Though things might not be able to get much faster in Hayley''s life, they don''t show any sign of slowing either…and she plans on seizing every opportunity God affords her.
