Details:
The Lava Pups is a collaborative effort created out of our love for surf and rock instrumental music and desire to have fun.  Our debut CD shows the influences of Dick Dale, Link Wray, Duane Eddy and Paul Johnson. The songs range from in-your-face double-picked, glissando-ladened garage surf like "Sea Witch" to the sweetly dissonant ballad "Pacifica Blue."

1. "Into the Flow" is the title track. The guitars work together on this uptempo number to set the tone for the rest of the CD.
2. "Link Man" is an old school rock song.  The bass counter point reminds us of a Link Wray composition.  He was one of the first guitar heroes and wrote the only instrumental song to be banned by some radio stations.
3. "Out of the Vortex" brings lead and bass together.  A respite in the middle makes us wonder if we ever will get out of the vortex.
4. "Sea Witch" is garage surf and glissando ladened.  No rest for the weary in this song as the lead switches from guitar to guitar.  Play it loud!
5. "Pacifica Blue" is a complete change of pace.  Slow down and feel the beauty of the Northern California coast.  The dissonance brings us to the reality that the Northern California coast is shrouded in fog much of the year.
6. "Lava Tube" is more garage surf.  Fast paced and featuring breaks for guitar and bass with some breathing space between verses.  Paul the Pyronaut provides the pyrotechnics early.  This too is meant to be played loud!
7. "Magma Runner" is fast paced with stops, anticipation, and drum fills.  The bass and lead work together on the basic and infectious riff.
8. "The Cruncher" is a fitting conclusion and begins with a drum intro.  More garage surf with our own pups voicing their approval in the end.  Listen for Millie, Maggie, and Darby.
