Getting together in the Summer of 2009 for Brendan Boogie''s Black Crowes Cover-Up at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, MA, the guys and gal of BrownBoot never set out to be more than a one-off. But like all great rock bands, love affairs, and crime syndicates, things just sort of happened, and with a sold-out Halloween show under their belts Boston''s rock n'' roll stupor-group thought they may as well keep the party going.
BrownBoot features dueling vocals and cocktailing from Rod Van Stoli (Bang Camaro) and Jordan Valentine (The Sunday Saints), with James Vincent Zavadoski (Damn Personals) on bass, Matt Sullivan (Cocked n Loaded) on guitar, Joe Kowalski on keys and Jason Baldock on drums. With the bar bill of Keith Richards and the backbeat of rhythm and blues, they promise a raucous, high energy rock n roll experience. Their Halloween tribute to The Faces and early Rod Stewart got the normally demure crowd at Toad climbing on the furniture.
Recorded to tape and mixed by Jack Younger, BrownBoot''s "Here''s the thing:" is a document - a take of the songs as they sound live, no artificial additives. The classic sound remains true even as the band style-hops from pop to arena rock to psychedelic funk.
