Details:
Recorded during the summer of 2005, DFO5 LiVE captures the spark of SONiA''s introspective and insightful lyrical gifts through the light of her new bandmates and showcases the trio''s precise and unwavering attention to grooving with seasoned and new audiences while spreading a message of love without fear in a way that is much more shared experience than preachy. Seamlessly weaving seventeen live tracks, recorded at mega festivals and intimate listening rooms across the United States, while staying close to the original ''disappear fear'' sound, was no easy feat. Yet SONiA, on lead vocals, guitar, and piano, Laura Cerulli ("JAH") on percussion and vocal harmonies, and Angela Edge ("Oxygen") on trumpet and bass, were up to the task. The result is uncompromised and pure, feminine yet hard, with a sound reminiscent of the earliest days of ''disappear fear.'' Their beloved sound is part intelligent folk singersongwriter, part sweaty rock-and-roll and part whimsical pop; and through tireless touring, SONiA, and every incarnation of ''disappear fear'' that ever was, continues to win fans across the political spectrum, despite the leftist leanings of its members.

Unleashed out of Baltimore, Maryland in 1987, SONiA and sister CiNDY, together, the nascent ''disappear fear,'' tore up the airwaves and quickly became a cult favorite on the college and festival circuit. After three releases on their own label, ''disappear fear'' signed with Rounder/Philo in 1994 to release their award-winning, eponymous CD, featuring Janis Ian and the Indigo Girls. When CiNDY decided to trade her road credentials for motherhood in 1996, SONiA forged ahead as a solo artist and released two solo albums, Seed in the Sahara and Almost Chocolate, (both on Rounder/Philo) and Me, Too, (on her own disappear records), as well as LiVE at the Down Home (on Winthrop Records), her first live solo album.

Picking up a more acoustic bluesy and world inspired flavor after several international tours, SONiA turned to Nashville, USA, to record No Bomb is Smart in 2004 as a solo artist. She was joined by an impressive cast, including producer Craig Krampf and members of the Dixie Chicks band, Glen Worf of Mark Knopfler''s band, and Ed Snodderly of O Brother Where Art Thou, as well as sister CiNDY, who contributed vocals on 10 out of the 12 tracks. The album was nominated for a GRAMMY award in the Contemporary Folk category and for an Out Music award for Best Female Artist.

DF05 LiVE includes live versions of tracks from SONiA''s most recent No Bomb is Smart as well as songs from earlier ''disappear fear'' recordings. SONiA and disappear fear will be touring the DF05 LiVE across America starting in October 2005 and will continue on till the tour ends up in Israel in August, 2006 at World Pride.
