Details:
This comprehensive collection offers an introspective view of the music of various Bulgarian Jewish composers of the 20th century, starting with the true patriarchs, like Pancho Vladiguerov (1899-1978), and ending with Valentin Lazarov (b. 1976 ). This CD covers more than three generations of composers, incorporating different musical styles and media - symphony, ballet, jazz and popular music, choir, chamber ensembles and solo organ and piano. Electronic music is also included. We hope you''ll be amazed by the diversity of styles and musical thinking found in one place, on one CD. The work of many virtuoso pianists is captured on this disk, with players like Milcho Leviev, Pancho Vladiguerov, the conductor Jules Levy, orchestra maestro Moris Aladjem or those wonders of electronic media, Simo and Valentin Lazarov.
It should be noted that many of the artists represented here use Jewish and Bulgarian folklore for inspiration. These artists are deeply interested in modernistic trends; sonority and instrumental sound and are becoming widely known in Bulgaria as creators of the popular genre. Although space did not allow us to include the work of many composers of Bulgarian Jewish heritage in this collection, perhaps this will be possible in future disks. We hope you will enjoy a small sampling of paintings by various Bulgarian Jewish artists which is featured in the booklet. Here one can find works of Gredi Assa, Ivailo Mirchev, Andrey Daniel, Alexandra Ivoylova, Moni Aladjemov, Sami Bidjerano, Ioan Leviev (brother of the composer and pianist Milcho Leviev) and Solomon Solomonov.
We hope you enjoy this unique collection of Bulgarian composers!
