"Bananas Glitterball Glam meets Psych on the brown acid!.
It''s The Stones meets The Glitter Band!
There is definitely no Bristol band that can cram as many hooks into one song as these boys."
SEAN COOK (SPIRITUALIZED / THE FLIES).

"A cool combo from Bath whose classic rock sound might remind someone of what they could have seen at The Isle Of Wight Festival
- amazingly anthemic early 70s styled melodic rock! They had the look down too, and their skill has been recognised by none other than Shindig! Magazine,
who have made them cover boys in the Happening supplement of their latest issue!"
DAVID BASH (IPO) - TOP 5 PICKS FOR 2011 IN BUCKETFULL OF BRAINS MAG ISSUE 76.

"West Country doyens ULYSSES are that rare breed - a band who take the early ''70s rock scene as it''s primary influence and pull it off.
Dramatic rhythmic flourishes plus power-fuzz chords plus crunchy riff plus impassioned vocals mean thoughts of Bolan and Bowie are never far away, but that''s no bad thing is it?
In a world of Mott The Hoople reformations these boys have the tunes and choruses to set teenage party dancefloors alight.
Choruses that, if you''ve got a moment, could be described as 12-storey: with magnificent entrance halls, carpeting throughout, 24 hour portrage and enormous signs on the roofs saying "This Is A Large Chorus".
Jumble sale clothes and junkshop glam have rarely seemed so appealing."
PHIL ISTINE - SHINDIG! MAG ISSUE 13.

"Things moved up another gear with the arrival of Ulysses. They’ve rightfully been racking up rave reviews for their irresistible brand of ‘future classic rock’ – recalling Great British bands like The Kinks, 10CC and Thin Lizzy through a psychedelic loud hailer – and tonight their killer set of established favourites (Dark Old Days, Lesson One) was enhanced with great new songs in the shape of Eye On You, Everybody’s Strange and Flowers. Ulysses = mighty."
JAY WILLIAMS - VENUE MAG LIVE REVIEW NOV 2010.

"If Danny The Dealer from Withnail And I had a favourite band, it would be Ulysses.
And when I say that, I mean it as the highest of compliments.
Listening to them, I am sometimes put in mind of what the White Stripes might have sounded like if they''d lived in the Notting Hill of Performance and learned how to properly let their hair down; at other times, a Super Furry Animals less afraid of drinking from rock''s Loving Cup, or a Thin Lizzy branching out to scare their central construction worker demographic.
This is a band who take the best of turn-of-the-sixties swagger, spiritualism and darkness and condense it with a kind of winning self-awareness that you might expect from the likes of The Black Crowes or Urge Overkill at their peak, but would normally seem hugely overoptimistic to ask for from a British group in 2011.
That they are without a lavish record deal at this very minute is more than just ''upsetting'' or ''a sign of the times''; it is a downright affront to nature."
