And, once again, legendary musician, vocalist, prophet and Pastor Calvin Suggs has responded to the Spirit’s leading with a unique and deeply soulful CD, Glory Land - which sets a new and exciting course for Gospel music with its debut on his new record label, Alegacy Records. “God spoke directly, firmly and without hesitation to my heart, and revealed to me the importance of blending styles of Gospel music that would represent a broad base of appeal to reach people of all ages,” Suggs said. Referring to the aptly-named title, Glory Land, Suggs added, “I have never been more excited about a record that gives listeners a glimpse of the power and beauty of our Father’s Glory!”
Pastor Suggs extraordinary vocal talent provides the perfect complement to a groove-based musical landscape painted with a “colors” that combine rich traditional quartet stylings with old and new-school R&B. The uplifting messages of hope and healing found on Glory Land are consistent with those this mighty messenger of God has been sharing with audiences around the country since his early days as a choir member at St. Peter’s Church in rural North Carolina. In the tiny community of Farmville, Calvin was strongly encouraged by his Godly- grandmother Winnie Suggs to share his love for the Lord and his love of singing with any and all who would listen. After catching the attention of Gospel legend Dorothy Norwood and later the incomparable Shirley Caesar, Calvin remembered his grandmother’s advice and subsequently blazed a musical and spoken-ministry pathway that has firmly positioned the humble servant in the hearts and minds of Gospel music lovers from coast-to-coast.
When asked to reflect on Suggs new Glory Land CD project, Pastor Shirley Caesar said, “…when you listen to Glory Land you’re going to hear Calvin’s gift, his anointing and the power of God reverberating on every note of music and in every lyric!” Pastor Caesar closed by referencing another world-renowned man of God with, “…in the vernacular of T.D.
