This song represents the first thing the 3WM ever Jammed. Getting together in October 2009 for their first jam after setting up, Kypo said to Alex, "What have yo got?". Alex pulled out the bass riff that starts the song, and away they went. The song came together very quickly, actually too easy. the 3WM continued Jamming for the next three months, and when they started performing in Feburary 2010, they pulled the recording out of their first jam. This was a stand out idea from the session. The 3WM started played it in their Live set, especially in venues which needed a crusier sound. They didn''t have a title for it. It had a working title of the "Mayer Toon", because the lead guitar line was very straty and sounded similar to a John Mayer song. Kypo was reading alot of John Mayer interviews in Rollingstone and guitar Player mags, and John was making a dick of himself with some pretty stupid comments. A friend had also just worked on John Mayers new album and commented how much of a Douchebag he was. So to grab people attention when introducting the song in the Live set, Kypo would call the song "John Mayer is a Douchebag" as a joke. and people would prick there ears up and have a laugh. The name has kind of stuck, although the Monkeys refer to the song as "Mayer", out of respect for John, because he really is a kick arse talented Muso.
The recording was done at Soundcheck studios in Sydney in August 2010.
Kypo played his White "Knopfler Strat" into an Ulbrick Stadium 120with No effects.
The release of the song was withheld until the 3WM iphone APP was completed, and is the first of many planned 3WM single releases
