MARDOE

When David Martin, better known in the music industry as Mardoe, started making music there was no such thing as Myspace or Facebook. Through grassroots marketing techniques and pure hustle he was able to get his self produced records out to the public. Growing up in the Bay Area allowed him to listen to many of the popular artists such as, E-40, Mac Dre, and Too Short. Not long after listening to them and through sheer ingenuity he was able collaborate on a song with Mac Dre. Mardoe continues to create music on a daily basis.

David Martin Jr. was born in Antioch, Ca in the early 80’s. At an early age he took to the paper to get out all his angst and frustration. Soon after starting he couldn’t stop and with his love of underground hip-hop penned his first album, “The Last Call”. Filled with angst over his parent’s recent separation, “The Last Call” was a very personal ordeal.

Next came “The After Party”, his second album. After years of living on his own and working to keep himself afloat music was still his main goal. While most people work a 9 to 5 and live for the weekend Mardoe worked a 9 to 5 and lived for the 5 to 9. Working a day job to pay the bills he would be in the studio until all hours of the night trying to create his next masterpiece. Though time was spent away from the studio his main focus has always been the music. With “The After Party” came some success and many local shows but wanting more Mardoe pushed on.

While his own music was his main goal the immediate time after “The After Party” was spent by spitting verses on other peoples songs. He continued to promote “The After Party” as well as starting to craft songs for his next album "The Fever". A few years went by and Mardoe continued to work on various songs while shelving some ideas for his solo record. Not long after he finished “The Fever” he went out on the road on a tour from generated buzz through Myspace. The tour stopped after only a few dates due to a last minute loss of funding but again undeterred Mardoe pushed on.

Los Angeles called and Mardoe answered. He relocated after “The Fever” and continues to promote his self-produced albums. Whether it’s collaborating with other artists or spitting verses in the studio Mardoe’s easily relatable lyrics have forced their way inside the head of everyone who hears them. Through the use of Myspace, Facebook, and pure street hustle he has been able to amass thousands of friends and contacts that eagerly await the new Mardoe album.
