About Keep the Way Clear:

Picture a tiny, tiny piazza in a medieval hamlet, high up in the hills in Tuscany, on a hot summer night, where a local, tired of cars parking in front of his garage doors, which open on to the square, has pinned up a sign, "lasciare libero il passo". The Marco Marconi Trio has pitched up to perform and the drummer sets up right in front of the sign. So the name for the CD evolved, "lasciare libero il passo" or "Keep the way clear"...

About the Marco Marconi Trio:

Beginnings
Exceptional Italian jazz pianist and composer, Marco Marconi spends much of his time writing jazz which he regularly performs in concert. Marco originally composed many of his pieces for solo piano but having met fellow Italians, Mauro Giorgeschi, an outstanding drummer and Giulio Angori, a highly talented bass player, the music gradually took on a new form and in 2007 the Marco Marconi Trio evolved.

Evolution
There is an incredible empathy between the players and this is apparent to the listeners with advanced interplay and stunning improvisations from each of the musicians. If you are lucky enough to see the trio live in concert then you will see and feel the harmony between this talented group.

The idea of performing original music and jazz standards inspired the trio and the groove that they achieve alternates with intrinsic sonority and resonance, fluid improvisations and moments full of pathos and melodiousness.

To promote their music, the trio took part in two international competitions, finishing in the last three finalists in the Mediteranean Jazz Contest (Elba Island) in July 2009 and second in the Barga Jazz Contest (Tuscany) in August 2010.

Influences
The Trio have taken inspiration from the incredible work of Keith Jarret, Bill Evans, Chick Corea, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and closer to home, Ramberto Ciammarughi, Paolo di Sabatino and saxophonist, Fulvio Falleri.

Composing and performing
As a composer, Marco spends much of his time writing jazz which he performs live in concert also in piano solo and, in 2009, Marco made his UK debut at the Cheltenham Jazz Fringe Festival to great acclaim performing his own songs and jazz standards.

The Trio performs regularly in festivals, events, private parties and corporate events throughout Italy and are looking forward to a tour of the UK at the end of 2010, arranged by their manager, Harry Finegold of ACA Managment.

Discography

Keep the Way Clear (self published) – Launched 26 Feb 2010

First CD self published in September 2009, Keep the Way Clear, to great acclaim from critics and public alike.

Editor of JazzIt (https://www.tradebit.com), Luciano Vanni, wrote "The timbre of Marco Marconi’s piano playing is sharp and cutting edge, far from the usual soft, opaque sounds of contemporary jazz. On this foundation the pianist takes us inside a repertoire which has its roots deep in classic and modern jazz standards, with reworkings of pieces like Beautiful Love, Time Remembered, Take the “A” Train and ‘Round Midnight."

What they say

Testimonials
“I have had the great pleasure of knowing and often hearing Marco Marconi play and the thing that strikes me on first impact about his piano playing is a great energy, controlled by an impeccable technique. After further listening you can appreciate the vast dynamic range of his touch on the keys, the result of years of studying classical repertoire. These studies have inspired a special style in the melodic construction of his solos. Stylistically, he has skilfully mixed jazz principles with those of latin music, the result of serious studies and a constant curiosity to find something new.”
