It has always been my goal to learn a little each day. Whether it has to do with science, math, philosophy, music, or just how a friend’s day went, anything you learn is essential. Learning makes you a more informed citizen, and in this world, being informed seems to be the only thing we can truly control.
I have never been one for science and math. Philosophy can be interesting, but more often than not, it bores me. That leaves the last two types of learning: music and human nature. And those two types are the most important.
My songs combine my love of music and my fascination with the human condition. It sounds corny, I know, but I’ve always wanted to expose the human for what it is. I have dabbled in poetry, painting, and writing short stories, but I was unable to express what my mind was aching to show to the world. That’s how I happened upon songwriting.
Human nature is a funky thing. It’s not always an attractive concept. Humans can be whiny. Humans can be irrational. Humans can have self-pity. But humans can also be insightful. They can be caring. Humans can be noble. My songs aim to capture the broad spectrum of human nature.
I sing about what I learn and what I live.
