A BIOGRAPHY

Skip Boardley Jr.

Harry “Skip” Boardley Jr., born November 25th, 1950 in Wilmington, Delaware, began singing at the young age of eight. In 1963, his confidence and career received a big boost when his musical talents won him the opportunity to perform as the opening act of a soulful show featuring greats such as Martha and the Vandellas, The Impressions and the Iceman, Jerry Butler.

Bitten by the “show biz bug”, Skip continued to perfect his gift of song by performing in local nightclubs.

At the age of thirteen, during summer break from high school, Skip accepted the opportunity to hit the road with vocalist Arthur Conley (Sweet Soul Music) and his Baltimore base band. Conley and Skip develop a close relationship that heavily inspired Skip to forge on with his musical endeavors.

While performing at a Chester, Pa. nightclub for Disc Jockey Georgie Woods, Skip landed a job as lead vocalist for Willie Feasters’ newly assembled band. This opportunity led him to New York City, working in big named nightclubs such as The Copacabana, Lloyd Prices Turn Table on Broad Way, The Apollo Theater and The Cheetah Club to name a few.

Skip also had the good fortune to share the same stage with internationally known talent like, The Commodores, Kool and The Gang, Sam and Dave, Miss Nancy Wilson, The Whispers and many others.

In 1976, Skip was given a chance to audition for Crown Heights Affair. He was added to the group immediately. Crown Heights Affair’s “Dream World” album was Skip’s debut as a rising lead vocalist. During this time of his life, he wrote songs for various top record companies while touring the world.

In the Mid-80’s, Skip made the decision to slow his musical roll and return to Delaware. Soon General Motors employed him for twenty years. As a recent retiree, Skip has decided to return to his passion of writing and singing.

Skip is a seasoned vocalist. His strong, soulful sound comes from a place that makes music for today and tomorrow, with lyrics that stir the body and soul.

Skip has declared that singing is the foundation of his soul.
