"Saioule": (sai – ool) is based on the Gaelic words - "Saor", freedom & "Saoil", to imagine. This music was created in freedom through imagination as a journey through the chakras.
"Saioule" was recorded, produced, edited, sung, and written by Shannon. This is Shannon''s second healing arts release. A vision come true; "Saioule" is both deeply moving and a rare jewel. Some say it is the first of its'' kind. Through the recording of crystal bowls attuned to each chakra, Shannon produced sounds with the intention of focusing on the variant energies of the chakra system. With the tones as a foundation, Shannon cloistered herself at the ocean, daily meditated and sang the voice of each chakra. Randy Rollofson created programming and drums. Marc Rose edited and mixed the project. Nick Moon mastered, and voila! "Saioule".
Each track is roughly 8 minutes long, with a 4 minute centering track at the end. "Saioule" is 60 minutes in entirety. Shannon began studying sonic and vibrational healing with the likes of Jonathan Goldman and James D''Angelo in the late 1990''s. She continues to teach the energetic properties inherent in tones within the body, and through channeling personal sound. Shannon''s music is largely inspired by the action of being a sonic vessel for spirit, which one can intuit from her musical style. This musical offering can be used for healing, meditation, relaxation, or listening pleasure.
The word "Saioule" came to me while I was riding in a taxi to the JFK airport through Harlem. There was a huge billboard with the letters: SAIOULE, capitalized first letters of each sentence. I wanted a wordless word, one that held all vowels, felt unfamiliar, yet good in the mouth. When I went to the root of the word, I realized it’s incantations were of Gaelic descent, and magic was on it’s breath. This is the feel of "Saioule".
This CD was created from a vision after teaching movement and working with the ancient chakra system. (There is detailed information on the chakras, their meaning, symbolism, and the energy that inspired each song as you scroll down.)
Recording "Saioule" was a leap of faith into the realm of becoming a vessel for spirit. This CD is inspired, and based on ancient tones and energies.
The Process:
I began by recording Crystal Bowls to activate healing, each sound uniquely attuned to each chakra. The further sounds I recorded, amplified and harmonized the frequencies, stimulating healing, balancing, and meditation. From this foundation, I felt it important to focus on one chakra a day from sunrise to sunset. I took my recording gear to the coast for a week, and meditated on one chakra per day, singing each chakra’s energy and voice. This was pure sounding. After editing and moving through the raw tracks, I felt the addition of sound and drums would augment the experience, and add depth. I hired my favorite drummer Randy Rollofson to add his magic… He delivered… Marc Rose added a different effect to the vocals depending on the focus of each chakra. (He was quite familiar with the project as he recorded the crystal bowls with me, and Hans Janowitz engineered the additional sounds.) "Saioule" in many ways created itself. There are certain songs, projects that write themselves, and this was one of them. As with any inspiration, I am honored to have been a vessel for this type of work, and have been deeply blessed through the creation of it~
"Saioule" is multifaceted. It was created intentionally to be 60 minutes in duration. It begins in the "Root" Chakra, and moves through each energy center with a specific tone, vowel cadence, and focus. It ends with a "re-integration" song "Expand", to settle the body and calm the nervous system.

Chakras are energy centers along the spine located at branches of the human nervous system, beginning at the base of the spinal column and moving upward to the top of the skull. Chakras are considered to be a point or nexus of biophysical energy in the human body. The entire chakra system is the key to life and source of energy in the universe.
The following seven primary chakras are commonly described:
1. Muladhara - Base or Root Chakra (ovaries/prostate)
2. Swadhisthana - Sacral Chakra (last bone in spinal cord, the coccyx)
3. Manipura - Solar Plexus Chakra (navel area)
4. Anahata - Heart Chakra (heart area)
5. Vishuddha – Voice or Throat Chakra (throat and neck area)

root"Root", is related to instinct, security, survival and also to basic human potentiality. This center is located in the perineum. It is said to be responsible for the fight-or-flight response when survival is under threat. It is also the region where the genetic code lies coiled and the kundalini. "Root" is symbolized by the color red. Key issues involve sexuality, lust and obsession. Physically, "Root" governs sexuality, mentally it governs stability, emotionally it governs sensuality, and spiritually it governs a sense of security.
Sacral"Sacral", the Sacral Chakra is located in the sacrum (hence the name) and is considered to correspond to the testes or the ovaries producing sex hormones involved in the reproductive cycle. The key issues involving "Sacral" are relationships, violence, addictions, basic emotional needs, and pleasure. Physically, "Sacral" governs reproduction, mentally it governs creativity, emotionally it governs joy, and spiritually it governs enthusiasm.
Solar"Solar" is related to the metabolic and digestive systems. The color that corresponds to "Solar" is yellow. Key issues governed by "Solar" are issues of personal power, fear, anxiety, opinion-formation, introversion, and transition from simple or base emotions to complex. Physically, "Solar" governs digestion, mentally it governs personal power, emotionally it governs expansiveness, and spiritually, all matters of growth.
Heart"Heart", is located in the chest. "Heart" is related to the colors green or pink. Key issues involving "Heart" involve complex emotions, compassion, tenderness, unconditional love, equilibrium, rejection and well-being. Physically "Heart" governs circulation, emotionally it governs unconditional love for the self and others, mentally it governs passion, and spiritually it governs devotion.
Voice"Voice", may be understood as relating to communication and growth through expression. This chakra is paralleled to the thyroid, a gland that is also in the throat and which produces thyroid hormone, responsible for growth and maturation. Physically, "Voice" governs communication, emotionally it governs independence, mentally it governs fluent thought, and spiritually, it governs a sense of security.
Instinct"Instinct", is known as the third eye chakra and is linked to the pineal gland which may inform a model of its envisioning. The pineal gland is light sensitive, and produces the hormone melatonin which regulates sleep and waking up. "Instinct''s" key issues involve balancing the higher & lower selves and trusting inner guidance. "Instinct''s" inner aspect relates to the access of intuition. Mentally, "Instinct" deals with visual consciousness. Emotionally, "Instinct" deals with clarity on an intuitive level.
Spheres"Spheres", is considered to be the chakra of pure consciousness, within which there is neither object nor subject. When the female kundalini Shakti energy rises to this point, it unites with the male Shiva energy, and a state of liberating samadhi is attained. It is located either at the crown of the head, or above the crown of the head. "Sphere''s" inner aspect deals with the release of karma, physical action with meditation, mental action with universal consciousness and unity, and emotional action with "beingness".
"Expand" was created to integrate all the chakras and tones. A grounding and centering track to crystallize the experience.
