The idea of House Exit sprouted in 2006 from Matt Hannigan, born and raised in a family that had a deep passion for music, who wanted to take his love of music and share it with the world. The original line-up consisted of Matt Hannigan on guitar and vocals and a friend from church who played drums. No songs were created during that period and the friend left the band. The summer of that same year, Matt met Wayne Trump as a co-worker at a residential camp in Central Pennsylvania. Mostly consisting of jam sessions, Matt and Wayne found a musical chemistry between them that would become the foundation of the band. In April of 2007, Matt Hannigan released a demo cd, “The Great Balance of Ryan”, including original songs created by Matt and Wayne, including “Feelings in My Back Pocket”, “Asymptotes for Antelopes”, and “Finding the Remedy.”, It wasn’t until January of 2008 that House Exit picked up drummer Mike Nebistinsky and the band became official.
