MP3 Half8n - We Were Here

Take a look across the
ocean. What do you see? In our estimation, destruction. Most of the
information we are fed is candy coated bullshit. In reality… The world
and all that we have created is falling apart to many politically
generated agendas.

Details:
Half8n is a four piece American hard rock band from Central California,
formed in 2006 and consisting of Dalton Whitman (lead vocals, rhythm
guitar), Eric Avila (lead Guitar, background vocals), Justin Casselman
(Drums) and James Ruiz (bass).

Upon release of their first demo in 2009, the band decided to push things
into high gear with the inclusion of lead guitarist and co songwriter Eric
Avila. Having perfected an album’s worth of songs, Manager Allen
Casselman, contacted System of a Down front man Serj Tankian, asking about
their experience in the industry and how they achieved the epic sounds on
their first album. Not too many days later, the band received an e-mail
from Sylvia Massy explaining that Serj had suggested she check them out.
It was this chain of events that brought Sylvia Massy and engineer
Fernando Flores together to record and produce their debut EP. The debut
EP “We Were Here” will be released April 20, 2011.

STYLES & INFLUENCES

The variety of style and range of experimentation displayed by the band
transcends categorization and is achieving the loyalties of metal fans and
progressive fans alike. Half8n is largely influenced by bands such as
System of a Down, Alice in Chains, Korn, Slipknot, Static X among many
others. Their sound is defined by drop tuning, mainly drop b and drop c.

QUESTIONS:

A lot of fans ask for the meaning behind some of the band’s lyrics like, “There
is no chance for me, you bleed me dry.” The band makes many references to
disingenuous people who are after their own profits off of the backs of
others. In the song “Human Genocide” the lyric “We can’t deny, that we
must fight” speaks to a broader culture of denial that is seduced into
thinking everything is just fine. Take a look around.. not just at yourself, your family. Look further…. Look next
door, down the street across your country. Then take a look across the
ocean. What do you see? In our estimation, destruction. Most of the
information we are fed is candy coated bullshit. In reality… The world
and all that we have created is falling apart to many politically
generated agendas. Powers are being usurped and crimes against
humanity are being committed. The band’s music is a call to action that inspires
people to hold themselves accountable for damage caused by industry and ego driven consumerism.
