Released at the turn of the century, Roots Wreck Remix was the sophomore full-length album from Electro Organic Sound System (EOSS). It was the follow-up to the 1996 underground classic, Herbanism.
On this album the studio wizardry of EOSS is applied to ambient-dub, jungle, and instrumental hip-hop styles. EOSS flavors the album''s ten tracks with its own "wreck-step" style of drum & bass beats, and apt description of the frenetic beats woven through parts of the album.
Roots Wreck Remix mashes many genres and styles together, then the parts emerge tweaked and recomposed into a new sound, one that goes to eclectic and strange places.
