East Of Western formed in 2003, when the last thing the world needed was another hard rock band. Their first release in 2005, ''The Empty Drone Of Special Effects,'' reminded the Bay Area that intelligent, angsty rock music was somehow still alive in the hearts of men. Their latest release, ''Panic'' is yet another noise-laden affair, and an apt summary of what American life has been like in the New Great Recession. In spite of what singer / songwriter / guitarist / producer Kevin Marks describes as ''the music of desperation,'' to experience East Of Western live remains a celebration in the face of chaos.
The band consists of Marks, bassist Jared Milos, multi-instrumentalist Steve Joh, drummer / vocalist Jeramy Sossaman, and keyboardist and session maniac Ben Patterson.
