Bill Kaffenberger and Steve Antonacci met while students at Virginia Commonwealth University. Their love of the music of The Byrds and The Buffalo Springfield along with Neil Young resulted in the forming of a Christian folk rock duo. Out of this partnership came the LPs SOMEONE GREATER and PILGRIM. Long out of print, the original tracks were recently rescued from the original master tapes and digitized. Fourteen of the best songs from those two LPs are presented in remixed and remastered form as digital downloads along with one bonus track. Featuring the mighty Rickenbacker Electric 12-String Guitar on many of the tracks.

Someone Greater LP
Clearly one of the best Christian male folk/folk rock duos I’ve heard. Virginians Bill Kaffenberger and Steve Antonacci sound right at home on this excellent private press, whether they’re performing quiet acoustic ballads (“For You and Me”), exploring dreamy 12-string moods (“Early Spring”), strumming along to a jangly percussive groove (“Rich Man and the Beggar”) or plugging in to a soft electric folk rock sound (“Presence of the Lord”). Fender Rhodes, Arp synthesizer, bass and drums complement the stirring harmonies and glistening interplay of acoustic and electric guitars… totally devoid of the overproduction and smarmy qualities that often seem to tarnish this genre.

Pilgrim LP
Excellent follow-up that finds Bill, Steve and five of their friends continuing in an acoustic/electric folk rock direction while adding a few rural rock edges… “Thy Will Be Done” (has) the guys cruising along in a friendly country rock fashion, while “The Son of Man” and “Trust in the Lord” have melodic plugged-in rural rock vibes… Attractive use of viola and violin on a few songs, including the harmonica-backed “Sailing to New Orleans” with its folksy sea-shanty mood. Other instruments filling in include piano, background synthesizer and mandolin. Rounded out with some fine ballads, including the beautiful closing title track (“Pilgrim”).
