AUTUMN ABOVE is a progressive acoustic rock band from Beverly, MA. Established in 2006 AUTUMN ABOVE has developed a unique acoustic prog-rock sound reminiscent of a variety of artists including Pink Floyd, Alice in Chains, and Rush, AA’s thick “wall of sound” comprised of an onslaught of vocals, three guitars, bass, and percussion as well as the occasional keys, strings, and mandolin has been described as something that is excitingly fresh and energetic. Catchy melodies and lyrics tied in with original and intense guitar riffage will ensure you humming along after just one listen. Having written music with versatile dynamics and touching on a multitude of different genres (acoustic, indie, post-rock, progressive, classic rock, metal), AUTUMN ABOVE is a group to follow as they continue their multi-album progressive catalog.
AUTUMN ABOVE’s first full-length release Prologue (self-released 12/3/2010) is a work of eclectic sounds touching on a multitude of different styles. A progression in plot as well as sound is evident through the album from a movement from upbeat songs to a chaotic apocalyptic ending. The album introduces the story of a mentally tortured man who through paranormal forces gets the girl of his dreams, a beautiful baby girl, and the life he thinks he’s always wanted. However, after finding out his wife is not who he thought she was (through the most horrific circumstances possible) he is forced once again to bargain with the supernatural in order to make things right.
