this music i found a bit more complex and intense, than the other selections or runs of "suites" compiled in the double disc, from the same sessions. Musicians are listed within these album notes, not to be redundent. The most intense run, or suites, variations on a theme, which is often the natural shape of our creating, begins with the cut "Vesuvius" and bubbles over, and continues to flow, as these subsequent motions, or movements are only time coded and named... all of these songs were created extempraneously, and I simply felt the "changes" and tabbed them. Often being the case in former WET PAINT cd''s. To further explain the philosophy of WET PAINT. I am also an abstract artist, or painter. What the galleries would call an "Outsider Artist". I guess that means that I did not go to school for painting, or "art". I don''t know? There is a saying that folks used to use, in order to justify thier agreement towards how things are; that being; "That''s the way it is". This statement, I found completely apathetic and as if some sort of condolence, or death sentence. In recent years, there has been another cliche'' propped up and delivered all of us, to condone what has been done, unethically, or even violently; which has been labled, once again, in apathy, puppeted and powerless; "It is what it is". Well, I find those two statements to be completely debilitating and controlling. So, I find my own power, intention and creation, by espousing that "THERE IS NO IS!!!" Only, what you yourself choose it to be, at every moment, every second of your life. Hence my forming of WET PAINT back in 1995. And only continuing... Out of my experiences in life, the more I realize this truth, of own personal freedom, and that you indeed, have the power to agree, or not? To be creative, or not? To choose and create your own template, process and philosophy... evolves all. I am not saying that metronome, completely produced, studio albums and "radio play" music, are not good, or that I do not like them, or listen to this music, produced in a different way... I love it. All of it, all music... well, not all music, but you understand what I am saying. What I choose to create, and the way in which I create it, is exciting, and makes me feel fully alive. The entire process of WET PAINT is an exercise of "letting things happen", oppossed to "Making things happen". Well, there''s a little of both involved, but, what I mean is, that the music and process comes through me, as well as of me. I choose not to hand musicians lines that I have created to play, poly zygotting my ego, and imposing onto them my "compositions". As well, I choose not to go into a sound proof booth, to take a line and make it "perfect"??? Repeating the "take"... or feeling as if I can "go back"... it is all "here and now", alike real life, here is "real time composition". Nature is imperfect, as I embrace and often lean or sway towards atonal, or changing dynamics, rhythms, and or movements. The blending and weaving with and alongside others, is what takes me "out of myself" and listening, while speaking, at the same time. Accepted or Commercial music, is often "perfected" and repeated formulaic, alike those who espoused; "that''s the way it is"... accepting paradigms and formulas to "plug into". While recording these sessions, a book found me; "KIss The Sky" a biography of Jimi Hendrix. within this book were passages of his own words and describing the "W''s", what I dub; Why? Where? Who? What? When?... and his intention of literally "reprogramming" or "evolving" folks through the music, resonated deeply within me. I did not choose to have the ensembles, or players who I invited to join me, hold hands and espouse this intention, before we played. Nah, I don''t do this. Nor, do I tell others what to eat. I believe in telepathy, and within the creation of music, to listen and speak, and weave and blend in "real time" over the "higher wire"... holds more power, when descriptions or "orders" are not "shared" or "preached". Ya dig. That''s what makes the experience and or results so interesting; the unknown. And "where we are going", not where we have been. I sank this intention in deep, for these recordings; the philosophy to evolve, and reprogram the listener. So, I reveal here, where the source comes from. this book that found me. my intention. though, after the fact. and out of time, mind and body... or "Headless"
