SUNSET CD features Patrice Fisher''s original compositions, like "Sunset at Waver," "Spirit of Tatiana," Suienny’s Carnaval” and "Joropo Para Lili." Her compositions have a Latin American influence with plenty of syncopation & rhythmic flavors from Brazil, New Orleans and the Garifunas of Honduras. The New Orleans flavor can be heard in Patrice’s composition,“Blues for Ascona.”
Brazilian musicians, Chiko & Rogerio & Lateiros Curupira percussion group, play on 6 of Patrice''s compositions & contribute their own vocal pieces, "Meninas de Laranjeiras," & a Portuguese/Brazilian rhythm version of New Orleans favorites “Jambalaya” & “Iko Iko.”
From Central America, we add the compositions of Garifuna drummer, Carlos Bodoma Norales, like “Laru Beya,” “Celedonia” & “Yurumei," with guest Honduran violinist, Angel Rios. The Garifunas are an Afro-Caribbean tribe, who escaped from slavery in 1727 & were able to keep their African language, music & culture. They settled on the Caribbean coasts of Honduras, Guatemala, Belize & Nicaragua.
Mexican musicians, Javier Cabrera & Miguel Martinez, add a Veracruzana flavor to “Sunset at Waver” & “Joropo Para Lili.” “Tras La Luna.” is the original composition of Mexican singer/composer, Alejandro Chavez.
