I have mixed feelings now as I sit here listening to the first mixes of our album, The PPL. Surely there''s a sense of pride for having seen this project through. After all, the first discussions Rich (Jaeger) and I (Marcus Steiner) had about forming a new band seem like a lifetime ago now. But the seasons passed, the snow flew and finally we had our window of opportunity. So with a tight budget and a lot of patience, we dove into the process headfirst. We faced a lot of daunting issues such as finding a place to record, performing multiple instruments and basically recreating our identities as musicians. Until recently in our lives we had both played in mostly heavy, distorted bands, really the polar opposite of what The PPL was to become. But with the encouragement of our families and friends we found the confidence to push ourselves and our music into new territories. The PPL has helped us personally reconnect with our musical roots and forced us to further the story telling aspect of the lyrics.
There''s something dark in all of the songs on this album. But there''s something innocent as well. In the end Rich and I just want to put out music that speaks to a broader audience. That get''s people moving a bit. That can take you on a small trip outside yourself. We are creating the type of music that we want to hear. The kind of music you want to hear. After all, you, me and everyone else are all The PPL.
