A succinct speech about sushi set to big beats, 80''s-style synth, and a crazy-awesome guy growling and shouting like a fricken'' maniac. Very... um... educational?

PLEASE NOTE: David Sprinkle, Stephen Pate and Andrew Haws have agreed to donate ALL profits received until at least June 30th, 2011 to Japan relief efforts (most likely Red Cross, but we''re still researching).

In the mid-90''s a small group of outcast weirdos decided to start a band. Okay, a lot of small groups of outcast weirdos decided to start bands, but this one was different, primarily because of their random obsession with fish. They wrote a half dozen songs about fish, fishing, fish puns, and other decidedly aquatic randomness, and then broke up and went their separate ways. One of these guys, David Sprinkle, continued obsessively writing songs about fish, switching from guitar based music to electronic music. Another guy, Stephen Pate, occasionally showed back up in David''s neighborhood to add vocals, growls and shouts to the tracks David developed. The band (and you will hear from them again) was The Pillaging Village of Tribal Vegetarians.

Sushi was a fun little track, created in NoteWorthy Composer and originally recorded and mixed in Digital Orchestrator Pro using the built in samples on a Creative SoundBlaster sound card. In short, it kinda sucked. Later, it was updated in Adobe Audition, and the speech Stephen had pulled off of the internet was removed and a newly written speech was laid down by a totally random guy, Andrew Haws, to replace it. Recently (early 2011) David slapped the original MIDI file into Logic Pro and completely reworked it using synthesis and appropriate drum samples. In short, it no longer sucks.

The cover image is David''s brainchild. It should be fairly self explanatory, but there''s some history behind it. Around 2000 David began photography classes in order to learn how to communicate with photographers on the off chance he would need one to take band photos or make album art. In one of his early classes he had an assignment involving either a "nude" or an "egg". He asked a friend to model for the assignment, and she misunderstood him to mean "a nude with an egg". That got him thinking. A nude woman with eggs where her ovaries would be seemed like an interesting image. Later, when it was time to shoot a cover for "Sushi", he realized that tobiko nigiri (flying fish roe) resembled ovaries filled with little ovum. He followed the theme and realized that many other pieces of sushi looked like various parts of the female reproductive system. The fact that sushi is frequently eaten off of live models adds to the credibility of the image, though it is important to note the following:

1. Sushi eaten off of a person is typically not directly in contact with the skin.

2. Baby oil and sushi do not go well together.

3. Photo lights make sushi very dry. Frequent re-moistening is essential.

Be safe! Enjoy the "song". (Is it a song when it''s not sung? - You be the judge.)
