The vocal stylings of Bryan Reese adds a unique sound to the music scene. Growing up in San Jose, California Reese''s childhood was filled with small roles in the entertainment industry where he took part in voice-overs and local commercials. Reese''s love for music peaked when he began taking voice, piano and violin lessons. "My mother enrolled my in lessons, because I was obsessed with my favorite Fisher Price piano toy," he said. Reese''s mother played a profound role in his life and was the main parental figure growing up. "When I decided to purse music more seriously, I found a lot of my inspiration comes from the powerful female artists," said Reese. Inspirations from his favorite artists, Tori Amos and Chantal Kreviazuk are heard throughout Reese''s music in the vocals and piano of his compositions.
In 2007, Reese left San Jose and moved to Seattle for work. "Some people would say why leave California is I want to pursue music since it''s the entertainment hub of the world, but I think my type of music suites the less mainstream audience and I''ve found a great fan base here. However, working as a regional administrator in a corporate environment doesn''t allow me the luxury to work on my music as often as I''d like," He said. "But I always have a song running through my head and take inspiration from everyday encounters."
Releasing his first demo CD called Winter Spirit last December, Reese said it was to gain an understanding of the recording process and putting together a small demo of my talent before I launch into a full length album. Currently Reese has wrapped up recording his first full length autobiographical album which is due for release this December. "We''re fine tuning all the tracks and planning the tour for the beginning of 2011," he said.
Putting together this CD was no easy task. Since Reese has not yet signed with a record label locally, he works with a producer in Flagstaff, Arizona where he goes to record and edit his music. "I write all my music and play all the instruments on the tracks, I think that''s really unique nowadays and I''m hopeful with the launch of the new CD and continuing to book performances at local venues, I will one day be able to fully devote my time to music," said Reese.
In addition to music, Reese is an avid traveler and has been to over 15 countries. His second full length album is already in the works and inspired from the personal experiences of his travels.
