The Broken Are Crowned was started in 2009 by guitarists Nick Stanger and Mitchell Niemeyer who both attend the same middle school. We were in 6th grade at the time. Later that year we met bassist Robert Northrup. We got together often to play music. Nick and Mitchell would write music and we considered ourselves a band.
In 7th grade (2009-2010) Mitchell took an interest in drums, started playing, got a drum set, but still remained rhythm guitarist until later 2010 when he switched to all drums. Nick was and still is in a music program called School Of Rock since 5th grade, where they not only offer lessons but also give kids (8-18) the opportunity to play as a band and play an actual show at a real music venue after each 4 month season ends. Nick has done everything from The Doors to Metallica. Recently Mitchell and Robert have joined School Of Rock also.
We consider our main influences to be Metallica, Iron Maiden, Avenged Sevenfold, Shadows Fall, All That Remains, As I Lay Dying, Alice In Chains, August Burns Red and MANY others. Now in 8th grade we have been writing and recording original music and are going to start playing live very soon. Our current line up is Nick Stanger playing Lead Guitar and Lead Vocals, Mitchell Niemeyer playing Drums, and Robert Northrup on Bass. We are writing and recording an EP that is expected to come out around the end of summer. We are all Christians and consider our music Metalcore with hints of Thrash Metal, Heavy Metal, and Progressive Metal.
