Born in the great African nation of Kenya, Grace Ndungu commonly known by her peers as SHIKOH has been singing as long as she can remember. Raised in a strict Christian family with her parents as committed Christians and church ministers, Shikoh chose to follow the same direction with her own life and her album, "WANANDONGORIA" meaning "YOU HAVE BEEN A SHEPHERD", which was released in 2004 is a clear indication of this personal choice.
Born to a family of nine girls who are naturally inclined to music and without any musical experience or training, Shikoh was naturally endowed with the talent and the love for music. She was always called upon to minister in song in the local churches and functions in her town through out her teenage years.
In an interview, Shikoh had this to say, "As Ndungu''s family, we sang almost all the time in the house. The greatest moments were during Christmas, Easter and family get-togethers. Mom would gather us in the living room and we would make music almost the whole night. Everyone knew their voice. We learned music by ear. I sang mostly the female tenor but could also sing all the other voices very comfortably. It was a full choir with ten female and one male for bass(dad). This was a tradition in our home and we loved it. Today, I miss these moments and cherish every memories of them!" Music therefore became part of her daily lifestyle. Her greatest inspiration has been her big sister Florence who won numerous musical awards and trophies in High School becoming Shikoh''s immediate role model. Others include, Mary Atieno, Rebecca Malope and Christine Nguli(Kamau).
During high school years, Shikoh who also headed her School''s Music Club won numerous music awards to the national level and made her school very proud. She has been a member of different anointed music groups that evangelized through Music Ministry in high schools and local churches across the nation of Kenya, in which many souls found a new meaning of life in Christ Jesus.
Shikoh has been blessed to minister in crusades, conferences and special State functions with great men and women of God like Morris Cerullo, Mitch Medina, Benny Hinn, Jerry Savelle, Ev. Teresia Wairimu, Bishop Margaret, the former President of Kenya, President Daniel T. A. Moi, among others.
She has featured many times in the Joy Bringer''s Programme, a Kenyan TV Gospel Music production, and on the local radio stations. Her CD "Wanandongoria" which has been playing in the radio stations in Kenya was recently featured in the top ten local gospel charts in Kenya.
At the moment Shikoh who is also a student in the USA, ministers in the Choir and the Worship Art Dance Ministry of Eagle Heights Church in New England. She receives numerous ministry invitations to Conferences, Churches, Fellowships and Weddings in many states across USA. She is also involved in planning & organizing annual gospel music extravaganzas in New England and other U.S states that bring together gospel recording artists from African nations living in the USA.
Shikoh''s vision is to reach out to the nations with the saving love of Jesus Christ. She loves to say, "As David served God''s purpose in his generation, so is my deepest desire, that someone will find true meaning of life in Christ Jesus through my music ministry"! She believes she was born to show forth God''s praises and worship in her generation and endeavors to do so in every ministry opportunity she grasps.
