Toronto, ON - Serafin is a Toronto-based singer, songwriter playwright and arts journalist, with a startling 5 octave vocal range and powerful stage presence that mesmerizes audiences.

Blending torch, jazz, blues and re-workings of pop standards from the 70s, 80s and 90s 2am At The Torch Café is ''a new sort of jazz album'' produced by jazz impresario Jaymz Bee (Royal Jelly Orchestra, Look People, Jazz Fm producer and host).

Juno-award winners Tony Quarrington and Richard Underhill, and Grammy nominee Kevin Clark, join Royal Jelly Orchestra musicians Waylen Miki, Sarah McElcheran, William Carn, Brandi Disterheft and Great Bob Scott for fresh jazz takes on songs like Everybody Hurts, The Crying Game and Here Comes The Rain Again. Special appearances by George Koller, Bill McBernie and Nash the Slash round out a top-notch line up of Toronto''s finest artists on this eclectic collection.

The torch song described by Serafin "is the lover''s dirge, the gay man''s anthem, the shy girl''s lament. It is the moment after midnight when our hearts are a bit too full and the fridge a little too empty; when we lose the polite façade of daylight, and howl at the moon for all we''ve lost and all we''ve longed for...these gems are shining examples of life in a song. Of how a song can help us live."

Serafin has two other albums, Where I Belong (1994) and SERAPHYMNS (2002). The song Let Yourself In from the SERAPHYMNS CD was included on the Fabulous Gay Tunes Volume 2 album in 2003. Serafin was also the featured vocalist on the soundtrack for Out: Stories of Lesbian and Gay Youth, a National Film Board of Canada production working alongside Aaron Davis from the Holly Cole Trio and John Lang. Serafin is also a frequent contributor to Xtra! Magazine.
