Postmaster Generals is Homeless Dave and Steve Jaqua. They''ve also performed publicly as The Banded Collar Boys, and the Happy Underwear Guys, both of which are accurate sartorial descriptions.
Their musical partnership was launched with the tune "Postmaster," which was inspired by a letter written by HD''s great-grandfather--the postmaster of a small town in Tennessee--to his brother, who was off in France fighting World War I. The liner notes of Proper Things include excerpts from that letter.
The liner notes also include a recipe for peanut butter pie written by HD''s downhill neighbor, Diane, N., who is the food columnist for the Old West Side News in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The CD itself will not stick to the roof of your mouth. Why peanut butter pie? Because that''s a lyric from "Teeter Totter Bride," and when HD sang the tune for Diane, she figured out a how to make a peanut butter pie, knocked on HD''s door the next day and said, "Here''s your peanut butter pie, neighbor." That''s the kind of neighbor she is.
