Production Notes.

This track was recorded direct to disc on Wednesday 20th April 2011 at Sound Check Rehearsal Studios, Room 4.

Song is written, performed and recorded by the 3WM.

Song started out as a Jam over a Dual Delay patch that Kypo created after hearing The Ivy''s new record, In company of Wolves. (Which Liam also plays for). The opening track had utilizied a dual delay at different taps. Kypo programmed, the G system Dual Delay to repeat on the every dotted 8th note and aver Quarter note, giving the rolling delay.

The song started out as another track, which was a very anthemic u2 sounding track, which morphed into a 7/4 groove just pumping on E.

Through Jamming the idea over February, the first few sections were created, displacing certain melodies over the 7 groove.

The muted guitar section, is a 5/8 riff on the guitar over a 7/8 rhythm section.

The Harmony Guitar section idea came about through experimentation which the Eventide Pitch Factor unit. A factory patch was used, which harmonies the note played, but also dual delays it, which gives an arpeggiated harmony.

Kypo created the progression at home, recorded the idea and sent a rough working of the idea.

The band jammed the 2 sections through March, developing the Heavy middle section and exploring various endings. Nothing stuck, and the band went into the 20 April recording with no ending for the track after the Heavy Guitar section.

On the recording Day the Band spend 2 hours jamming and piecing together the finale of the track.

Utilizing a Drum groove from another 3WM monkeys idea that dates back to the Oct 2009 sessions, the band nutted out the quieter section, with Kypo playing the 5 theme in Harmonics, and Alex exploring a strumming of the Bass.

The next section reinforces Kypo''s 5 Theme, but with the Rythm section time changing from 6/4 to 4/4.

The Resolution of the Song, is the Chorus Melody of Decending 4ths, extended. The final tag of the song, only appears in the last 4 recording of the song. It is a good example of 3WM writing on the fly under pressure.

Kypo performed the track using his EVH Wolfgang. Alternating the pickup selection from centre (both pickps) position to the Bridge pickup for the lead and heavier parts. The Mesa Boogie Transatlantic was used on this recording, with the Achillies 2X12 Cabinet containing a Celestion Gold and a Green Back.

Both Channels of the Transatlantic were used. The 1st channel was set clean, and Kypo punched in and out a number of pedals over this channel. The final tag of the Decending 4ths, was Channel 2 on the 5th mode setting.

Pedals used on this recording were the Exotic RC to give the clean channel an extra warmth. An Exotic AC for the 1st Decending 4th Lead. The Heavy section was a Mesa Boogie vTwin pedal, set to theBlues channel, but with a mid scoop. Kypo likes to run minimal effects as possible, to reduce signal degradation. Pedals a switched in and out of Bypassable loops on the RJM Effects Gizmo in the Rack.

The G system Dual Delay was used for the delayed guitar parts. This was recorded in Mono. The intro Delays were later edited out and replaced with Post Production Delays to achieve a stereo delay tap. The original delay can be heard recorded in the muted section and decending 4ths section. (Which could not be edited out) Reverb from Logic''s Space deisgner was also used for the intro. Thunderstruck Setting.

The other main effect used was the Eventide Pitch Factor to get the Harmony Section.

Logic''s Multipressor and Adaptive Limiter were used to master the track inline as the mix was completed.

COVER ARTWORK DESIGN.

The artwork was inspired by 601bisang''s "Eoreum" stylistic approach.

"Spirit of the times" is represented by working with light and shade to depict good and evil. The Japanese symbol for spirit is ghosted into the background, with the two accentuated brush strokes indicating the interactions of opposing forces. The piece was finalised after watching the RESTREPO, a documentry about the american army of the front lines of Afghanistan. The red paint swirl on the cover symbolises the road to peace (Represented by the dark to light background) is covered in blood.
