Krystina Nicole was born on January 16, 1989 in Anaheim California, to Pete and Rebecca Guerrero. She is the youngest of three children, and has two Brothers, PJ and James. Krystina Nicole was raised in the Inland Empire in the city of Fontana Ca. (approximately forty miles east of Los Angeles) for the first 18 yrs of her life. Her mother is of Native American and Spanish descent and her father is of Chamorro descent from the Pacific Island of Guam.
As a young toddler (2 yrs. old) her father Pete would have her try to match the tone, as he would play different notes on a Pitch Pipe. He noticed at this very young age that she had very good tonal qualities, and was able to mimic the sounds. He was very excited to start building her musical foundation. Pete had played a horn in his Jr. High and High School Jazz Stage Band for 5 years, and has been a DJ for the past 23 yrs. Krystina Nicole has been exposed to all Genres of music throughout her entire life. She started singing at the age of 3 with her father playing the Piano. When she entered elementary school she would participate in all of the different musical programs, and at the age of seven started performing solos at school events, assemblies, talent shows & family functions. She was selected to be a member of the Honor Choir, which consisted of the top vocalist from each of the Elementary & Middle Schools throughout the city of Fontana.
During her middle school years she was forced to make a very difficult decision. She was only able to participate in one elective class, and was nominated by a faculty member to be part of the Leadership Program/Student Body. After discussing and weighing her options with her parents, she made the very difficult decision to enter the Leadership Program (while continuing to sing at home). Krystina Nicole was a Straight A/Honor Roll student throughout Elementary, Middle and High School. She took Advanced Placement Courses, and was also a student athlete receiving four Varsity Letters in Softball and one in Basketball. As a freshman she again joined the school choir. During her sophomore and junior years she auditioned and made the Madrigals Ensemble which sang at various community functions as well as traveling to other cities throughout the state to perform. Krystina Nicole graduated High School with Honors and was in the top 1% of her High School (Ranked 4th in her senior class) she was nominated as a Valedictorian. She received several scholarships and was accepted into the “University of California San Diego” where she is currently in her third year majoring in Biological Science, and is currently maintaining a 3.5 GPA. Although it is very challenging she has not lost her Passion for Music and the desire to better herself through educating her mind as well. This creates balance in her life.
Despite all her abilities, she has encountered her share of jealousy and negativity. Children would tease her about her weight and the length of her long black hair (which in her culture was a symbol of beauty). She would often cry to her father about her insecurities, and he would tell her to “Be Thankful with What God Has Blessed You With” but that was easier said than done. Now through her music, she expresses some of those same insecurities, to show young women to embrace their flaws and take pride in who they are. One of Krystina Nicole’s major influences is Alicia Keys, because she respects her as an artist. The way she has won over the world with such style and grace without compromising her integrity. This affected her in a positive way, by showing that you don’t have to be half naked to sell records. At the age of 16, she was introduced to a producer, Riko Quinones of LIUI Productions, who pushed her to start writing music. The first song she wrote was “Never Gonna Let” which was a tale of teenage love and promise. At 18, Krystina Nicole embarked on creating her first album “The Unanswered Question” (as well as being a full-time college student). With her attending such a prestigious school that is academically challenging, music often ends up on the back burner; she records and writes music during whatever free time she can find. Now at the age of 21, this album represents, and is an expression of a young woman’s Joy, Sadness and Insecurities, with some very interesting concepts, that will surely touch the debts of your heart. With the support of her family and friends this is the year that the world will be able to enter the Soul of “Krystina Nicole”
