Kevin Paris is a singer-songwriter out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin whose style and influence are rooted in a unique blend of folk/reggae/acoustic/surf music.
For Paris, it all began when he first picked up his father’s old acoustic guitar at age 16, covering artists like Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Bob Marley, Dispatch and Michael Franti. Before long, his interest shifted toward writing songs of his own.
While his tunes quickly filled notebooks and his musical momentum increased, Paris attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison to major in International Studies. Tackling both simultaneously, Paris graduated and released his debut studio album, Mangos For Breakfast, in May 2010.
The album, a fourteen-song, self-produced record was heavily influenced by an inspiring seven months he spent studying and traveling in South Africa. Since it’s release, Paris and his album have gained local and international attention, including winning Peacedriven’s fifth annual International Songwriting Competition based in New York in January 2011.
Most recently, Paris returned from four months living in Brazil, taking the time to write songs for his second album, study music business and Portuguese, and perform and promote Mangos For Breakfast with his Brazilian branch of the band.
This summer and fall, Paris will primarily be performing acoustic sets in and around the Midwest.
