New Katie Harris Album Made with iPad
Jazz singer-songwriter Katie Harris has released her sophomore album Platonic following her debut Bird Songs ~ Lullaby earlier this year released under her first name. The new album was completely created with iPad.
Platonic, an all-original material album features Katie as both singer-songwriter and producer. Each song on this sophomore release was written, arranged, and performed by Katie. From the lyrics and music to the vocal performance, Katie Harris re-establishes herself as a multi-capable, multi-talented music artist building on her debut traditional Jazz album.
With the help of Apple’s portable device, this sophomore release by Katie integrates Jazz and Blues influenced vocals into an enjoyable palate of original upbeat songs definitely aimed at pleasing listeners. Katie Harris cites Four80East and Robert Plant and Alison Krauss as her major influences when making this album. Katie chose 11 songs for this original recording based on album ideas that had been formulating over a 10 year period. A loose version of the originally intended project, the general theme and intention are still maintained in Platonic while allowing for revisions necessary to reflect personal growth since the original works were created.
Having completely abandoned music, Katie Harris was drawn back to her once hobby now professional realization, after realizing that although she had completely abandoned her music interest, she had taken steps to preserve her art in perpetuity regardless of whether she realized her music goals or not. Not to mention, her discovery of iPad2 and iPads Garageband2011 app made the likely fruition of the project more doable leading to an outcome versus an opportunity.
Prior to abandoning music, Katie had mailed all of her original lyrical material to the U.S. Copyright office in Washington, D.C. 10 years after abandoning her music hobby, and several intellectual property “losses” later, Katie requested archived copies of her works from the U.S. Copyright office, and began working on them again. Platonic is the result of this instinctual self-guarding via copyright deposits she had taken while in college.
Originally intended as a diary of love travails, , Platonic developed from a shift in personal focus and life meaning. Platonic is not a love bashing album or crooning album, it is a celebration of meaningful friendships that have the possibility to blossom into love interest; the important personal relationships in a person’s life that stay the course of emotional transitions.
