THE RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS: Melissa accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior when she was in Junior High. Her parents were going through a divorce, and her Mom and aunt took her to a Dallas Holm concert. “While the song ‘Rise Again’ played in the background, my heart was falling in love with Jesus. At a time in my life when my family was shaken, Jesus got my attention, and reached out for my hand. I’m so glad I grabbed hold: Still holding on.”
THE MINISTRY: Just shortly after Melissa was saved, she felt God’s call on her life to minister through music. She began singing in church, and at revivals, and continued through the years at various youth conferences and women’s events. She leads worship in her home church, First Christian Church in Marshall, IL, every Sunday (except when traveling).
Melissa is also currently the worship leader for Wabash Valley Ladies Unity Night in Terre Haute, Indiana. This annual event has been known to bring upwards of 5,000 women together from various denominations to worship Jesus Christ. It has allowed Melissa the privilege of ministering with well known Christian speakers such as Anita Renfroe, Lysa TerKeurst, Lisa Whelchel, and Patsy Clairmont.
Melissa is listed on the nationally known Proverbs 31 Ministry website as a “recommended” worship leader. Her writings have been published by Proverbs 31 Ministries in both their P31 Woman Magazine, and Encouragement for Today daily devotions.
