Michael John Mollo formed his first rock band at age 16 shortly after learning to play the guitar. His original rock compositions held strong allure for the youth in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. Michael went on to study music composition at West Chester University of Pennsylvania where he studied with composer Robert Maggio and sought out opportunities to work with Temple University film students.
Currently, Mollo composes full time for film, television and video game projects. His music is unique in that he often uses non-traditional and found instruments to create engaging sound palettes. He currently serves as CEO and director at Q6 Studios Inc. Michael also continues to work with legendary film composer John Powell. Recent projects include the Iraq war thriller, Green Zone, Dreamworks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon and Knight and Day for 20th Century FOX.
Following this, Michael pursued a Master''s degree in Music at the College Conservatory of Music (CCM) at the University of Cincinnati. While studying at CCM, Michael met Tom Haines, director of Electronic Media Studies. This relationship provided Michael the opportunity to attend the Aspen Film Music workshop where he studied with Thomas Newman and Jeff Rona.
In 2007, Michael moved with his wife Nancy to Los Angeles where he received a postgraduate advanced certificate from the prestigious University of Southern California (USC) film-scoring program. At USC Michael met the future founders of Q6 Studios Inc., and studied with industry leaders including, James Newton Howard, John Frizzell, Christopher Young and Jon Ehrlich. While still attending the USC program, Michael worked at Hans Zimmer’s Remote Control Productions as an assistant to composer James Dooley and then at Sonic Fuel Studios assisting composer Christopher Lennertz. During this time Michael contributed on projects including The Simpson''s Movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks and Meet the Spartans.
