Stranger Still, a five-piece bluegrass/americana band from Tallahassee, Florida, is Peter Knowlton (Rebus) on banjo and dobro, Brian Burke (Rev Tor) on lead guitar, Coleman Mackie (Still Wood) on bass, and brothers Oakley and Bree Van Oss on rhythm guitar and mandolin. The band was formed in 2008 and has honed their rock-infused bluegrass sound at shows and music festivals around North Florida ever since. Road to Home, the first full-length album from Stranger Still, is composed of a series of short stories from the life of a young man coming of age. The album begins with the main character leaving a failed relationship, follows him down lonely dirt roads, and through a raging tropical storm before he finds his true love and settles down into domestic life.

When Stranger Still developed the concept of this album, not only did they want to capture a story, but they wanted to make the recording process as organic and "live" as possible. The studio was brought to a cabin built by guitar play Oakley Van Oss in the North Florida woods. So the story and the recording go hand-in-hand.
