Details:
Relative Theory, an acoustic rock band from Washington D.C, just recorded their debut album entitled We’re Not That Bad. The band consists of members Nick Grunewald (lead vocals & rhythm guitar) and Steven Spiegel ( lead guitar & backing vocals). It is easy to hear that Relative Theory is influenced by artists like Death Cab For Cutie, Jason Mraz, The Kooks, Spoon and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Nick Grunewald, the bands primary lyrical writer is inspired mainly by his love life and change while Steven Spiegel brings in his guitar ideas often inspired by Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Albert Hammond Jr. and John Frushanti . Nick Grunewald has been writing songs and playing since he was 7 years old, his first ever song entitled “ Gimmie one Kiss,” was an obvious foreshadowing of what his future songs would be about. Nick’s cousin and best friend, Steven Spiegel also loved music but didn’t play an instrument. So in the 6th grade Nick started to teach his cousin, Steven Spiegel, how to play guitar. Steven then started to teach himself and took a quick love to the instrument, along with all of music, and quickly developed a unique guitar style bringing a new edge and different, more complex sound to their music. With a full 10 song album of originals, Relative Theory is ready to show the world who they are.
