In their fourth album “Signs of the Cross”, Hearts in Tune uses multiple harmonies over various rock styles to create new textures. From the acapella song “God is Here” to the upbeat “Gifts”, they continue to use diverse styles to share their positive message. The unique vocal textures are especially evident in songs like “What We Really Need” and “Follow Him”. You can faintly hear some of the progressive rock roots of Michael James Smith (the group''s director and writer of all of their music) in songs like “I See”, "Signs of the Cross” and “Building a Family”. There are also some softer moments like the beautiful “Covered” and “Shine Through Me”. Hearts in Tune continues to be very original, a spiritual youth choir with the attitude of a rock group.
