MP3 Christopher - Smoke and Origination

Following up the critically acclaimed `wer Next Projekt,'' `Smoke and Origination'' is the most innovative release of 2006.

12 MP3 Songs
WORLD: World Fusion, METAL: Gothic Metal

Details:
Clocking in at just under 70 minutes, ''Smoke and Origination'' is an ambitious work for listeners tired of the usual retro-obsessed pap of the mainstream and territorial niche-genres.

"If music had feet, it would kick your ass. But music doesn''t. Therefore, you''re safe. It''s lop sided, it''s clumsy, it''s a confused bullying child. The best comparison I can come up with is that it''s a `Pet Sounds'' style of record. Risks were taken, for better, for worse." -Christopher

Within the confusion and clumsiness is a conceptual piece that documents life in transition. No beginning, no end, just a period of time with an accompanying soundtrack.

Like it''s predecessor ''wer Next Projekt,'' ''Smoke and Origination'' pushes the boundaries of sound and genre; butchering, mangling, reinventing the past with contempt. The difference this time is the genre-defying music is not the statement, it is the background/foundation of a story and Christopher''s vocals.

Though there are a few stand-out tracks like `Derivative Hearts,'' `Again,'' and `The Following Visual Was Staged,'' the songs'' true strength lies in their relationship to one another and the motifs carried from song to song. The album is also in one key and each song is built around music motifs from Bach.

Why Bach? And Why One Key?

"It wasn''t a conscious effort initially to write the whole album in one key. The first 3-4 songs that were written were coincidentally in one key and it flowed perfectly. So I went with it. I think the germ of the idea was hatched by listening to Raags and deciding that I wanted to create a sort of `Raag'' style album but with a truckload of instrument variances. As for the use of Bach motifs; I have no idea. I don''t even like Bach. Attribute that concept to a higher meddling power of sorts. " - Christopher

In this `beautiful'' age of music where one can dare to dream to have his song be the #1 downloaded ringtone, Christopher submits to you a reminder that the art of creating a powerful and interesting album is not a lost art.
