Although there are many scripts available to help operate a membership area, many webmasters do not want the hassle or expense of installing a script if they are only operating a small membership area.
Instant Membership Site provides a quick and easy way to help you run a membership area using the Password Protected Directories facility available in the Control Panel of most decent web hosts.
Before using this software, you need to use your web host Control Panel to create a password protected folder on your site and set up a load of user ID and password values (say 20 to start with).
The easiest way is to just allocate user IDs sequentially (1, 2, 3, etc) and pick random entries for passwords.
After creating these user IDs and Passwords, you need to create a new text file using a text editor such as Windows Notepad.
Add each User ID/Password pair to the text file on a new line, in the form: userid, password (i.e. user ID
followed by a comma followed by the password).
