THANK YOU BARRY MCGUIRE FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE DONE .

if you''ve ever been to the lakes region of new hampshire - welcome back.

if you''ve never been to the lakes region of new hampshire, what are you waiting for........

allan benoit, new hampshire''s own home grown native son, the best kept secret in years, is about to become a songforce to be reckoned with.

though he has been likened to the greats, he owes no one.

he has been compared to tom rush, gordon lightfoot, harry chapin, and others, with a voice to rival rod mcguen and bruce springsteen, he answers to no one.

his voice is unlike anyone else.

deep gravel, dirt road, throaty sounding, a voice he could not steal from anyone - his voice is unique, like no other.

a master storyteller for some time, he is not afraid to sing of unpopular themes or even a "silly love song" occasionally.

he has written songs with other big names in mind, but never released them, until now.

two songs that he wrote in 1970 for other artists, though they never responded to his musical advances, appear on this cd.

he wrote "sheffield blue" with johnny cash in mind and "silly song of love" with james taylor in mind, so after all these years these two songs see the light of day.

"post cards from the big lake" is a collection of eleven songs, if you listen closely you can hear the lakes region in a couple of them.

"big lake island" and "gunstock mountain morning" are very much love songs of new hampshire''s lakes region.

allan also shows a soft, painful side to love in "''til you go" and "a place to stay".

both songs pulling very hard on the emotional heartstrings, and very real life experiences.

allan can also sing about a gun (taboo in most circles) and make it a heartwarming story about a boy and his grandfather in his song "grandad''s blunderbuss".

he also touches upon that ol'' 60''s folky feel with, "4th of july", a fun, loving look at his wedding day.

he then shifts into gear with his ode to urban white collar fantasy, "motorcycle mama", a fun look at every business man''s dream of a bike with a big blonde on the back - only to realize it''s just an impossible dream.

in "misty harbor moon" allan goes back to the sea for one more visit with the ol'' salt, a sailor''s story in his own words.

allan ends the cd with a little help from his friends.

"sheffield blue" features the voice of terry tj aziere along with allan and some very nice guitar work.

terry traveled from tulsa, ok to new hampshire just to do his tracks.

a dear friend and performer in his own right, you can check tj out on https://www.tradebit.com tell him allan sent you.

the song "tomorrow" had vocal help from mark bartram, singer and lead guitarist of the rock group, the touch.

mark also plays the real nice lead in "''til you go".

mark is also the owner of styles studios, where this cd was recorded.

mark engineered and helped to produce this cd, he also did the photo and artwork.

to say the least, allan said he owes much to his friend and comrade in arms.

many thanks to both of you.

if you can never get to margaritaville, the lakes region is your best bet.

see you soon..........
