birdWire''s I''ll Take It With Me illustrates with tender gravity the stages of goodbye, the indelible grief of ending, and the determined optimism about renewal amidst grief. Compelling the listener with a motley array of lyrical as well as electronic and traditional elements in a predominantly acoustic soundscape, birdWire offers a redefinition of folk. Shifting the conventions generally associated with the genre accounts for the impact of futurity on folk sensibility. In an age when technology appears to close all distances, in reality it only makes possible new kinds.

Featuring such varied instruments as the banjo, accordion, and marimba, this record sticks to the right brain with its catchy yet subtle choruses and the left brain with its intricate lyrical content and chord changes.

I''ll Take It With Me was written, recorded, and produced by Brian Mundy (formerly of Kooken & Hoomen, now part of the K&H Productions collective) in the last three weeks of his seven-year stint living in the Bay Area. He brought the rough mixes to Scott Norton (TV on the Radio, Uncle Tupelo) at Headgear Productions in Williamsburg. The coast-to-coast creation of this record punctuates further its themes of departing, distance, and looking ahead.
