Who could have known that the invisible was so near until invisible things became increasingly visible in the sky after Earth entered the Photon Belt in 2012.  One person who did was Jan Do who founded the City of Ladies, where seeing through invisibility was practiced and taught.

An ordinary woman with extraordinary abilities creates a refuge from post- modern disenfranchisement in this neo-modern utopian vision. Unknown to most people, the world is crowded with creatures both material and aetherial interacting invisibly with each other. One of the few people who can see aetheric forms through the veil of invisibility is Jan Do. She does not know that her extraordinary ability has real value until Earth enters the photon belt along with the rest of the solar system and aetheric life forms become visible.

Two events rock her world not long before this momentous event occurs. First, she founds the City of Ladies in Houston, Texas, based on Christine de Pizan’s postmodern design.  Second, she is among the first of the moderns able to communicate with the newly discovered denizens of earth’s atmosphere. Jan Do allies with Alden, a 4000-year-old sky serpent, or dragon, as the ancients called them, who she discovers hanging out in her neighbor’s tree, while practicing vision exercises she (re)invented to develop occult sight.

Alden guides her through the unknown aetheric world by engaging Jan Do’s innate telepathic ability, and soon circumstances demand that she share her knowledge with others outside of the City of Ladies. Not many people knew that Jan actually had discourse with a dragon until after the solar system was fully into the photon belt. The techniques she developed for seeing into invisibility were being tested and verified by her students at the City of Ladies’ Invisible College by the time most caught wind of the possibilities. When sightings of creatures in Earth’s atmospheric ocean came into the half-full view of all, these were some of the ‘experts’ to whom humanity could turn.

Weaving fact and fiction, eastern and western metaphysics, past and future, the author uses the protagonist to design a rousing call for peace and plenty. By outlining the thought processes of Jan Do, the ruling ethics and social advances of the City of Ladies manifests clearly within the context of a larger issue – the consequences of Earth’s journey through the photon belt, and the unlikely association of truly alien forms (human and dragon) to a common end – peace with Earth.
