The BlackBoot Family consists of 3 core members: Truce the Microphone Minister, Lo Key the Mad Ripper, & MattLock. The 3 members hail from Southern California and have been together since the mid ''90''s.
Truce: Produced, wrote, and arranged all the music on the project. Artist like Jimi Hendrix, and Miles Davis, heavily influences his style. Truce plays guitar, trumpet, and keyboards and occasionally laces hip-hop tracks with jazz, blues, and rock guitar. Truce prefers to create original hip-hop tracks and rarely utilizes samples. His staccato styled rap can be heard on BlackBoot Party and BlackBoot Walkin''.
Lo Key: Co-wrote and co-produced portions of the project. His lyrically style has been compared to artist like Chuck D and Dub C. Ever since 1990, when he first blessed the mic with hot tracks like Mr. Greenleaf and Make Way, Lo Key has delivered impeccable and reliable performances. His dominant voice is recognized on every track he has graced.
MattLock: Co-wrote many of the tracks on the project. His rhythmic, laid-back style is unique and comparable to nothing out today. He is a wordsmith and he regularly creates innovative passages that mesmerize listeners. His grasp of the English language is so extensive that he easily manipulates it and transforms it into something most of us could not imagine. He picturesque style has been compared to the story telling styles of the late Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur.
